Family of popular house DJ Duke Soul have confirmed to Tiso Black Star Group Entertainment that he passed away in his hometown of Kimberly late last night.
Themba Sikhupelo‚ cousin to Vusi who is popularly known as Duke Soul‚ was at a hospital in Kimberely when speaking to us. “He was my brother. We started Duke Soul Productions together. I’ve known him for my whole life. It’s a very emotional time. We are taking his body to the morgue now‚” he said while choking back tears.
In a short message posted to the Duke Soul Productions Facebook page on Monday‚ the label’s Major P announced the news.
“I’m sorry to announce that Duke Soul passed away this morning. He always loved the Duke Soul Music family very much. Let’s stay strong‚” the statement read.
Fans have responded to the news with shock and sadness‚ with many taking to social media to pay tribute to the musician.

At the time Major P took to Facebook to ask people to pray for the him. “I would like to ask you guys to pray and wish Duke Soul a speedy recovery as he’s in hospital. We love you Duke Soul Music family have a safe and awesome weekend.”
No funeral arrangements have made been as yet.
