Mantashe to speak at memorial of ANC bus accident victims

Hundreds of ANC supporters braved the rain on Thursday afternoon to attend the memorial service of 10 of the party’s members who died in a tragic bus accident at the weekend.

The victims were returning to Johannesburg from Port Elizabeth on Sunday after attending the launch of the ANC’s election manifesto for the coming local government elections.

The ANC sent its senior leaders including at least two members of the top six‚ Secretary Gwede Mantashe and Treasury Zweli Mkhize‚ as well as cabinet ministers Aaron Motsoaledi and Susan Shabangu.

Late struggle leader Chris Hanis’ wife Limpho was also among the dignatories as well as the popular pastor “Mboro”.

Mantashe is scheduled to give the keynote address after the various ANC leagues and Cosas have paid their tributes.

The rain stopped shortly before members of the families of the victims finished delivering their eulogies.
