RnB legends The Manhattans have a message for YOU

Legendary RnB group The Manhattans are heading to South Africa in July and‚ as frontman Gerald Alston tells Tiso Black Star Group Entertainment‚ the group can’t wait to return.

Speaking about the first time the group came to South Africa‚ Gerald says that they did not know what to expect‚ but were so impressed by the country and its people that they decided to extend their four-day journey to 15 days.

“It (South Africa) never ceases to amaze. Not only me‚ but the whole group. Every time we’ve visited there’s something new or something different that really excites us. We really love coming to South Africa.”

Gerald says that fans can expect to hear a host of old favourites from the group as part of a promise he made to the late Manhattans co-founder Blue Lovett.

“The thing about the show is the legacy continues. As you know‚ all of the guys that I started with have passed away. When I talked to Blue before his passing he made me promise that the legacy would continue. So‚ we’re coming to South Africa and were going to sing as many songs as we can stick in our show. Even if someone in the crowd calls out a song that we haven’t rehearsed‚ we going to give it up. We just want to satisfy our fans to the max‚” Gerald says.

When asked if there is a special message he has for South African fans‚ Gerald says he is humbled and grateful to them for their support.

“To our South African fans‚ thank you for your many many years of support. Thank you for supporting us when we came here shortly after Blue passed away in 2015. You humbled us. We love our South African fans and we just want to thank you for always believing in us. We want to repay your love by giving our all when we come and promising you that the legacy will continue‚” he says.

Gerald and The Manhattans will perform alongside Regina Belle at the Teatro at Montecasino in Johannesburg from July 21 to 23‚ before heading to Cape Town for a show at the Grand Arena on July 24.
