A taxi operator was shot dead and two other left seriously injured at the Mthatha CBD during taxi violence today.
The man was shot during a drive-by shooting near the Circle Triangle mall and that left people terrified following the incident . Some shops in the mall were temporary closed fearing for the lives of staff and customers.
'' A 25-year-old man was shot dead and two others were seriously injured and rushed to hospital in an ambulance. The killing is related to taxi violence in the area,'' said police spokeswoman Warrant Officer Deneo Koena.
Koena said a number of more than 10 empty cartridges of a 9mm gun were collected down the Sutherland Road near the Circus Triangle yesterday morning.
''The incident happened shortly after 9am,'' said Koena, who added that a case of murder and attempted murder hadbeen opened. There are no arrests made yet.
