Boxing legend Muhammad Ali has died

Global boxing legend Muhammad Ali‚ who had been suffering with Parkinson’s disease for decades died on Friday evening at the age of 74 after being hospitalised earlier this week suffering from respiratory complications.

The boxing icon who was popularly known as ‘The Greatest of All Time’ died at a hospital in Phoenix‚ Arizona.

“After a 32-year battle with Parkinson’s disease‚ Muhammad Ali has passed away at the age of 74. The three-time World Heavyweight Champion boxer died this evening‚” Bob Gunnell‚ a family spokesman‚ told NBC News.

In the past few years Ali had been hospitalised multiple times. In 2014 he spent time in hospital after suffering from a mild case of pneumonia and then in 2015 he was admitted for a urinary tract infection.

Even though Ali’s speech had deteriorated over the years he continued to make public appearances at charity events and speak out against injustices through family members.

NBC News is also reporting that Ali’s funeral service will take place in his hometown of Louisville‚ Kentucky.
