An East London woman is facing a murder charge after she threw a flame stove at her father. She first tried to burn him with hot water but her mother intervened.

The woman separated the flame stove and tossed it at her father and left him in flames before running out the house. She was demanding R120 from her mother.

The father died in ICU at Frere Hospital three weeks later.

The mother is now testifying in the regional court how she watched her daughter set her father alight because he was kicking her out of the family home.

The accused was being sought by police after she took a phone from a man.
