Tributes poured in yesterday following the death of Bhisho government spin doctor Mzukisi Jento Blouw.
Blouw, 38, died during the early hours of Sunday morning after his Jetta collided with a VW Golf while he was driving home to Amalinda.
His confidante and family friend, Sonwabo Mpemvana, said the family received a call from police just after 2am on Sunday informing them of the accident.
“When we arrived on the scene, everything had been moved already as he died on the scene,” said Mpemvana.
He described Blouw as a humble person “who would smile or laugh even when friends teased him”.
“We will miss him dearly,” he added.
A former provincial executive committee (PEC) member of both the ANC Youth League and the Young Communist League of SA, he was based in premier Phumulo Masualle’s office where he worked as a parliamentary liaison officer.
Speaking on behalf of Masualle, Sizwe Kupelo said: “Blouw’s untimely death has robbed the office one of the best and efficient soldiers, who served the people of the province with commitment.”
ANCYL provincial spokesman Ayongezwa Lungisa sang Blouw’s praises saying: “Throughout his activism he committed his skills and energies to serve the organisation and the people throughout.
“We will continue to be true to our task – that of mobilising young people behind the banner and vision of the ANC. We wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to his family, his children, his colleagues at the Office of the Premier, the ANC-led movement and all his loved ones.
“We can only imagine the pain you are going through,” Lungisa added.
His death occurred while the SACP was having its provincial working committee meeting.
A moment of silence was observed during the meeting in honour of Blouw’s passing as well as that of former ANC provincial chairman Dumisani Mafu.
Yesterday the Dispatch reported on Mafu’s sudden passing.
The former Mkhonto weSizwe cadre died of a heart attack on Saturday night.
SACP provincial spokesman Siyabonga Mdodi said: “We wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to the families of the departed comrades, and the entire movement.
“May their souls rest in peace.”
The funeral will be held in Hankey, but the actual date has not been finalised.
Kupelo said funeral arrangements would be announced as soon as consultations with the family had been concluded.
