EC’s four enterprising women

By BARBARA HOLLANDS

FOR hair and beauty salon owner Afika Mbandazayo, being selected for a two-year business support programme means her goal of building a business empire has a great chance of success.

Mbandazayo, who owns AfikaM Hair & Beauty in Vincent, is one of four entrepreneurs in the region to be picked for the South Africa Breweries (SAB) Foundation Tholoana Enterprise Programme.

Booi owns Second Office, a block of serviced offices and boardrooms in Vincent which can be rented for an hour upwards.

“The offices and boardrooms can be hired by people who work from home but at times need a professional environment, as well as by business people who visit town and don’t want long-term rental agreements,” said Booi.

The four businesswomen have already attended workshops in Johannesburg.

Bukelwa Ngoqo of SunKissed, a funky Xhosa art, décor and fashion store, said: “The experience was a revival of my entrepreneurial spirit.”

“It was a very productive session,” agreed Queenstown entrepreneur Zandile Matiwana of Silulo Ulutho Technologies.

“I wasn’t sure about my vision, but now I know.” — barbarah@dispatch.co.za
