Celebrities‚ politicians and thousands of social media users have shown their support for France after more than 80 people were killed while celebrating Bastille Day in Nice.

President Francois Hollande declared the incident a “terrorist” attack after a gunman drove a heavy truck at high speed into a crowd watching a fireworks display.

The attack provoked an emotional outcry on social media with thousands of Twitter users offering condolences and prayers for the country and those affected by the attack.
