“Instead of fighting a dream of Nelson Mandela‚ they are fighting each other.”

That’s how Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane summed up the African National Congress (ANC) at a “We can win” rally in Tshwane’s Freedom Park on Saturday.

Maimane‚ accompanied by Tshwane mayoral candidate Solly Msimanga‚ Gauteng leader John Moody and national spokesperson Phumzile Van Damme‚ launched a venomous attack on ANC president Jacob Zuma.

“I am afraid that the dream of Nelson Mandela no longer lives under the ANC; it is better encapsulated here in the Democratic Alliance… because the ANC of Nelson Mandela is no longer the ANC‚” said Maimane.

“The ANC under the Jacob Zuma is an ANC of corruption‚ of scandals‚ of the Guptas… ”

Maimane said the DA would capitalise on the ruling party’s infighting.

“Instead of fighting a dream of Nelson Mandela‚ they are fighting each other. A house divided cannot stand… when people are fighting each other‚ they are divided and because that house is so divided that they can’t deliver for the people of Tshwane.

“Our strongest weapon is our ‘X’. We will use our ‘X’ to remove this government of Jacob Zuma to make sure we assure him a new change‚ a new dispensation here in Tshwane where freedom‚ fairness and opportunity shall reign and only the Democratic Alliance can deliver on that dream‚” said Maimane.

Taking to the podium earlier‚ Msimanga pulled no punches and labelled Zuma and deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa “Blesser Number One ” and “Buffalo Soldier” respectively.

This referenced the reported purchase of 11 cars for Zuma’s wives at a cost of R8.6-million between 2013 and 2016‚ whilst Ramaphosa bid R18-million for a buffalo during an auction.

“Instead of us buying enough equipment for police men and woman‚ we have decided to take money and buy Blesser Number One and the wives expensive cars. But that was not enough‚ he now wants to ensure that he and Buffalo Soldier get a jet for R4-billion.” – Tiso Black Star Group Digital
