Injured Oscar Pistorius gets visit from brother and on-off ex-girlfriend‚ suicide bid denied

Carl Pistorius‚ the jailed Paralympian’s brother‚ and his on-off girlfriend for five years Jenna Edkins have visited him to check on his condition after he sustained an injury at the weekend‚ disputing rumours that he had tried to commit suicide.

Correctional Services confirmed on Sunday that Oscar Pistorius was taken to Kalafong hospital to be treated for injuries on his wrist.

“Jenna and I have ... seen Oscar and he is doing well under the circumstances. He is in good spirit‚” Carl Pistorius said via Twitter.

“He slipped in his cell and injured himself‚ nothing serious.”

Carl said the suicide rumours were “completely untrue“‚ adding it was “great” to see his brother.

“He sends love to everyone‚ especially Aimee.”

Aimee Pistorius‚ their sister‚ is friends with Aimee and supported her in court during Oscar’s re-sentencing proceedings recently.

Correctional Services spokesman Manelisi Wolela could not give details of how Pistorius got injured.

“The Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Centre attended to his minor injuries on his wrists but further sent him to Kalafong hospital for treatment and he was returned to the centre.

“Oscar Pistorius denied speculations of a suicide attempt. As a policy we cannot further discuss a particular offender’s personal condition in the public domain‚” said Wolela.

Pistorius is serving time for the murder of his girlfriend‚ Reeva Steenkamp.
