ANC Youth League has confidence in SAA chair ‘Dudu Myeni Zuma’

Will Thandi Moraka be taken to task the way Julius Malema was?

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader invoked the ire of Small Business Development Minister Lindiwe Zulu when he‚ in Parliament earlier this month‚ referred to the South African Airways (SAA) chairperson as “Dudu Myeni Zuma”.

That came during a heated question-and-answer session during which Malema said Myeni deserved the “Myeni Zuma” surname because of her alleged close relationship with President Jacob Zuma. Myeni heads the Jacob Zuma Trust.

African National Congress (ANC) MPs were furious when Malema insisted in using Myeni-Zuma saying it was disrespectul as Myeni is a married woman.

Despite Zulu’s complaints that the EFF MP was out of order because of what the appellation “Myeni-Zuma” implied about their relationship‚ house chairwoman Grace Baroto said that as Myeni was not an MP she was not protected by parliamentary privilege.

On Sunday‚ African National Congress Youth League deputy secretary-general Moraka referred to the SAA chair as “Dudu Myeni Zuma”.

“We want to affirm our confidence in both the former SABC COO and the Chairperson of SAA Dudu Myeni Zuma in their quest to transform this SOEs‚” she told a media briefing.

This differed from the written statement issued by the league‚ which had the proper name in capital letters: “We want to affirm our confidence in both the former SABC COO and the Chairperson of SAA DUDU MYENI in their quest to transform this SOEs.”
