Illegal electricity connections have claimed another life in Buffalo City, this time a 64-year-old woman died after she allegedly tripped over illegally connected electric wires.
She is believed to have been walking home from hospital when the incident occurred.
Mdantsane police spokesman captain Nkosikho Mzuku said Nompumelelo Mtati had been admitted at the Cecilia Makiwane hospital on Friday and was discharged sometime over the weekend.
“Her body was discovered on Monday morning by members of the public who called the police.”
The body was discovered following a weekend-long search by her family after they couldn’t find her at the hospital, Mtati said.
Mdantsane Police have opened an inquest docket following the incident. -malibongwed@dispatch.
