Eight nurses take legal action over salaries

A GROUP of eight Eastern Cape nurses have threatened legal action against their employer – the provincial department of health – for failing to adjust their salary scales.

The eight nurses were previously employed by the Buffalo City Metro but were integrated into the provincial department of health during the “provincialisation” phase, when clinics under municipalities’s jurisdiction were being transferred to the department.

The nurses, who have asked to remain anonymous, say their salaries were not adjusted when they were absorbed into the department, as promised.
