Uproar as officers evict Mdantsane’s hawkers

Hawkers situated next to Shoprite in Highway – Mdantsane’s economic hub – have been evicted by law enforcement.

Buffalo City Metro (BCM) law-enforcement officers arrived at the building in 12 vehicles on Sunday morning to carry out the removal. The eviction was believed to have been prompted by Shoprite, who may have complained about the vendors outside their store.

However, acting Shoprite branch manager Mpumzi Kekana said they had nothing to do with the removal of the vendors.
