Medical school rises up

Walter Sisulu University has completed the first phase of its multimillion-rand medical school project at the Mthatha Hospital Complex.

WSU and the hospital embarked on the ambitious project in an effort to improve both healthcare and tertiary learning.

The medical school is now based at the hospital, meaning student doctors do not have to travel between the university’s Nelson Mandela Drive campus and the hospital for lessons and practical work.

Residences will form part of the following phase of the project, work on which will begin in the near future.
