Four top BCM officials arrested, appear in court on fraud charges

Buffalo City Metro's chief financial officer Vincent Pillay, supply chain manager Thembelani Sali, councillor Luleka Simon-Ndzele and the city's lawyer Matthew Moodley appeared in the East London Magistrate's Court this afternoon on charges of fraud and contravening the Public Finance Management Act.

The four were arrested this morning after they handed  themselves over to the Hawks.

They are accused of having defrauded the municipality of R190 000 in 2015.

The complainant on the case is former municipal manager Andile Fani.

The four appeared before magistrate Rochelle Sam who released them on R2 500 bail.

The matter was postponed to April 24 for further investigation.
