Four people have been killed, and another critically injured in a horrific accident on the R72, about 50km from East London this morning.
According to health department spokesman Sizwe Kupelo, all four died on the scene.
"The injured person was rushed to hospital," he said.
Provincial police spokeswoman Brigadier Marinda Mills said the accident happened near Ncerha cuttings.
The accident involved two trucks and a Hyundai H100. The injured person was rushed to hospital.
This brings to 12, the total number of people who died on the Eastern Cape road between yesterday and today.
Eight people perished on the same day in two separate accidents between Mthatha and Dutywa yesterday that happened on the same spot, three hours apart.
