Ngcobo double murder case delayed

A Ngcobo village tavern owner, Bonging Sondlo, who earlier this month allegedly killed his stepmother and his aunt accusing  them of  witchcraft,  appeared briefly at the Ngcobo Magistrate’s  Court today. He was charged with two counts  of  murder.

Sondlo  of   Lurhasini  village on the outskirts of Ngcobo who had been on the run since the  July 2  double-murder,  was arrested  on Tuesday,  16  days after  he  allegedly  killed  his stepmother  Nowezile Mbulali, 78, at  Bulawayo Village  and  his  aunt  Noluthando Sondlo, 59, at the neigbouring  Molitana  village in Ngcobo on July 2. Both villages are at Sundwana administration area in Ngcobo.

Sondlo allegedly stabbed the two women to death after he accused them of bewitching him. This was after he was involved in a car accident the previous day.

In court, Sondlo  opted  to  hire  a  lawyer of his  choice. The case was postponed  to Monday  24 July for  formal bail application.
