A damning forensic investigation into Buffalo City Metro’s controversial sports sponsorship funding in 2015-16 has found evidence of serious contraventions.
It found indications of financial misconduct, non-compliance, ghost events and how former ANC councillor Ayanda Peter was caught up in conflicts of interest when she granted the funds.
The investigation was presented in council this week by forensic investigators KPMG as a top secret item.
The report followed months of investigations into how R17.3-million had been spent, some of it without council approval, while some events never took place despite municipal money being paid to the companies.
