The Buffalo City Metro council has approved a 7.36% salary increase for all its employees with effect from July 1.
City manager Andile Sihlahla last week tabled a report seeking council approval for the increase, which is in line with a three-year collective salaries and wages agreement signed in 2015.
The agreement was signed by the South African Local Government Bargaining Council (SALGC), South African Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) and Independent Municipal.
