BCM at risk of losing power supply licence

Buffalo City Metro is failing to comply with the National Electricity Regulator of SA’s (Nersa) quality of electricity service policy.

This means the city is not providing a “continuous good quality supply” of electricity to paying BCM customers.

BCM spokesman Samkelo Ngwenya yesterday blamed the non-compliance on “illegal acts perpetrated by the communities causing illegal connections”.

He said BCM was working closely with police to identify perpetrators and looking at charging identified perpetrators under the new Criminal Matters Amendment Act.
