The N2 Wild Coast Project, once completed, will stimulate tourism in the Eastern Cape and attract no less than 600 000 tourists to the province.
This is according to Transport Minister Joe Maswanganyi who addressed the media with premier Phumulo Masualle at the Bhisho State House yesterday.
Maswanganyi was in the province to discuss the progress of the multibillion-rand project with Masualle, roads and public works MEC Thandiswa Marawu, transport MEC Weziwe Tikana and the implementing agency Sanral.
The minister also announced that the total cost of the Wild Coast road’s 112km greenfields portion between Ndwalane near Port St Johns and Mtavuma River in Port Edward now stood at R9-billion.
