Trial of man in wife’s killing again postponed

The murder trial of a man accused of stabbing his wife to death a day after she won an interim protection order against him was postponed yet again in the East London Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

The reasons for the latest postponement, according to state prosecutor Asanda Nolusu, were several. First, a witness statement was still outstanding, she told presiding magistrate Rochelle Sam, as murder accused Xolile Ndoti, 34, looked on from the dock.

Second, the consultation between Ndoti and his legal representative, where the two have to come up with a defence strategy, was still ongoing.

Third, police forensic pictures taken at the scene of the crime were also still outstanding.
