Motorists cautioned to be on alert of road closures and blasting

Eastern Cape motorists have been warned of upcoming road closures as a result of blasting on Thursday. This advisory was issued by the South African National Roads Agency (Sanral).

In the advisory Sanral said the blasting would be taking place at approximately 11am on Thursday, 38km from Dutywa when travelling towards Mthatha in the Mtentu Cuttings.

The road will be closed while the blasting takes place. The agency said the duration of the closure will be kept as short as possible but there was a chance it could last for two hours.

In its statement Sanral provided two alternative routes to motorists who would be travelling eastwards towards Mthatha.

It was advised that either motorists exit the N2 at Ndabakazi on to the R409 towards Ngqamakwe and Tsomo or they take the R408 at Dutywa towards Ngcobo.

The Department of Transport can be contacted on 0800-644-644.
