Revealed: Most wanted fugitives still on the run

Here are the five most wanted, feared and ferocious men in the Eastern Cape.

They are on the run from the law, but when caught will be charged with rape, murder and armed robbery.

Yesterday, Eastern Cape police appealed to the public to help bring these dangerous men in and, in doing so, play a role in putting them through the justice system.

Provincial police spokeswoman Colonel Sibongile Soci yesterday said any tips from the public were very useful in tracking down the fugitives, but urge the public not to try and apprehend the suspects, but to call the nearest police station.

One man made his way to the province all the way from Philippi in Cape Town and is believed to be hiding out here. Another escaped from police custody, and others are suspects in serious criminal cases, Soci said.

They are wanted for various serious offences including rapes, murders, armed robbery and robbery with aggravating circumstances.

“They are some of the most feared people in their communities,” warned Soci. She said the suspects were accused of terrorising businesses and communities.

They are:

lLunga Boyce, 18, wanted by Western Cape detectives in connection with the January 11 murder of an unidentified 30-year-old man.

According to Soci, Boyce allegedly shot and killed the victim at 5.30pm at Nondlwane Street, Lower Crossroads in Philippi East. The killing left the community of Philippi in shock.

“Investigations into the circumstances of the murder identified Boyce as a possible suspect and a warrant for his arrest has been issued. It is possible that he could be hiding out with relatives in the Eastern Cape.”

Anyone with information on Boyce’s whereabouts can call 082-411-2739 or Crime Stop on 0860-10111. “All information will be treated confidentially,” said Soci.

lThree men whose identities have been reconstructed using identikits, are being are sought by the Alexandria SAPS in connection with a November 30 2016 farm attack and robbery at De Kol Farm outside Alexandria.

Soci said the suspects, all African males, fled with R10000 in cash after robbing the farmowners. The suspects are believed to be between the ages of 30 and 40. The three are still at large.

Anyone with information is urged to please contact the nearest police station or investigating officer Constable Lindi at 073-800-4251 or SAPS Crime Stop 08600-10111.

lMdantsane police are searching for a suspect who escaped from the Mdantsane Regional Court last Monday. Lulekani Somtsora, 25, and co-accused Thabani Mkhokeli, 30, escaped from the holding cells after their lawyer failed to notify guards he had finished consulting them.

He left them unsupervised in their cell. Mkhokeli was re-arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning by a special police task team while he was sleeping in a shack in Duncan Village and a charge of escaping from lawful police custody added to his charge sheet, Mdantsane police spokesman Captain Nkosikho Mzuku said.

Somtsora is still at large. The two are facing serious charges including murder, four counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances, one count of housebreaking with intent to rob, one of illegal possession of a firearm and one of being in possession of ammunition.

The two are accused of terrorising households and businesses in Mdantsane before their arrest in August which put an end to their crime spree.

They stand accused of killing a foreign businessman during a botched business robbery in NU5 in July 2016. They are also accused of robbing Nelikhaya Butchery in NU12 where they allegedly fled with R70000 in cash.
