Former Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Luyolo Nomandela has been suspended with immediate effect at Mthatha Bucks where he is due to appear before a disciplinary hearing today.

Nomandela, alongside teammate Sifiso Ntjolo, are due to appear on charges of ill-discipline on and off the field.

Following the incident, Amathol’amyama general manager Luxolo Matikinca released a statement on social media confirming their suspensions and said they would be in a position to give more information after the duo had appeared before the National First Division club’s disciplinary committee.

“We are very disappointed in the conduct of the two players, especially with the team going through tough times in terms of the results. We will deal with the situation accordingly once all the necessary processes have taken place,” Matikinca said in the statement.

He said they could not give out any more information until they had followed the required steps in such a situation.

“… we can only do that after they have appeared , because if we give out more information on this that will compromise our case against them.

“We can only tell you that they have been suspended from training and are currently under a special programme for the time being. Because when you suspend a player that doesn’t mean they are done, they are still part of the team.”

Matikinca said their management was always available to their players and they will continue to educate them on how to conduct themselves in whatever situation.

“The outcomes will depend on what the disciplinary hearing finds because they will investigate what happened and judge. If they are found guilty, the hearing committee will make recommendations and we can only take steps after the recommendations have been brought forward to us by the committee.

Nomandela refused to comment on the ill-discipline charges, saying he was not in a position to speak to the media, as he was following the club’s processes.
