The Hawks yesterday told the Mdantsane Magistrate’s Court that a woman had used her dead husband’s pension fund and life policies to pay a hitman R150 000 for killing him on Valentine’s Day this year.

The state’s case was outlined by Warrant Officer Vukile Konzani during the bail application of Nomqondiso Tembu, 50, who is accused of hiring a hitman to kill her husband, Vusumzi Tembu, on February 14 this year while he was coming home from a Chippa United versus Mamelodi Sundowns match at Sisa Dukashe Stadium.

The alleged hitman, Simphiwe Wili, 47, appeared in court alongside Tembu.

Konzani, of the organised crimes unit, yesterday told the court that Tembu had introduced her late husband to his killer as her cousin.
