It seems as if Marina Glen, popularly known as Ebuhlanti, remains a popular hangout for East London revellers this festive season.

In the past it has attracted thousands of people who want to unwind and dance the year away, and since late November, it has been jam-packed with people braaiing, playing music and dancing to the latest hit songs by Distruction Boyz, Dr Malinga, DJ Tira and loads more.

As the festive season has moved into full swing vendors in Ebuhlanti have had their fair share of a financial boost, as residents bring their meat for them to spice up and braai at their stalls, day or night.

These busy vendors are the first to arrive at Ebuhlanti in the morning and the last to leave, some as late as 5am the following morning.

But for those who prefer the indoors, Mans Buy and Braai in Mdantsane’s NU15 has remained a much-loved chill destination for all ages.

New opening times are from 8am to 10pm on weekdays, and from 8am to midnight on weekends.

The place now offers additional events hosted by local DJs, one of whom is Thursday Live.

To improve its service, manager Bongani Mini has employed more staff to ensure the place is kept clean at all times and that all customers are satisfied.

Braai meat sold to customers is brought in from Glen Victor Meats Limafuthi at Nahoon Dam, a well-known supplier.

Ekhaya Eziko in Currie Street, Quigney, which serves spicy meat, has also gathered quite a following.

By 7.30am workers there clean and prepare for a busy day even though the doors only open at 10am. Closing time is 9pm, although, according to manager Mpumli Malgas, this is negotiable, depending on trade.

Customers can buy ready-braaied meat as well as meat done to order, while they sit and chat with friends.
