Another bloody exchange of gunfire has ensued this evening in Ngcobo between the police and a heavily-armed gang believed to be behind Wednesday's mass killing of policemen.
This is according to a police source.
Health department spokesman Sizwe Kupelo said one person was injured during the shooting and was being treated at All Saints Hospital in Ngcobo.
It is believed that five people have died during this evening’s shootout.
Kupelo said: “Forensic pathology have also been dispatched to the scene of the shooting for collection of the bodies.”
The wounded person would be referred to Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital, said Kupelo.
This comes as national police minister Fikile Mbalula is due return to Ngcobo tomorrow morning to hold a press briefing where he is expected to make an announcement about latest developments in Wednesday's shootout.
