Members of Ngcobo task team die when car hits horse

Three North West provincial police were killed outside Ngcobo when the vehicle they were travelling in hit a stray horse. Eastern Cape traffic deputy director Charles Bramwell said the incident happened on the R61 at 12. 02 this morning near Xholosini Village.

Bramwell said the Mount Everest SUV car was driving four NW officers to an investigation in Mthatha.

"Eastern Cape provincial police spokesman Captain Khaya Tonjeni said a case of culpable homicide has been opened following the incident. Bramwell said the survivor was rushed to St Mary's Hospital in Mthatha. "He is under a critical condition."

Tonjeni said the officers were in the province as part of the police task team investigating the police killings at the Ngcobo police station. This is a developing story.
