A Potsdam family is desperately looking for their 26-year-old relative, Mziyanda “Giyo” Mageja, who suffers from mental illness. His family says they found out that he was last seen heading to the January 8 ANC birthday celebrations held at the Buffalo City Stadium on January 13.

According to his aunt, Stella Mageja, Mziyanda left his home on the Friday of January 12 and was last seen at the pick-up point where buses were waiting to ferry members of the public to the event.

He was wearing brown pants, an ANC T-shirt and a black overall jacket.

However, it is not certain whether Mziyanda made it to the celebrations or not.

“There are reports that he was not allowed to board the bus that Friday and was told to wait until Saturday morning where more buses will be sent to pick up people. But he never returned home that Friday, so we don’t know if he got onto any of the buses,” said Mageja.
