Young people from Cala brought their municipality to a standstill on Wednesday demanding jobs and road maintenance.
The protest started at 7am with the youth demanding that Sakhisizwe municipality mayor Siyabulela Nxozi respond to the petition they submitted last week.
Sakhisizwe municipality covers the towns of Elliot and Cala.
One of the protest organisers Nkosikho Mdwayi said they believed Nxozi did not care about the youth of Cala. He said they decided to close the municipality until the mayor came to address them.
Nxozi did not answer his phone while council speaker Kholiswa Faku said they were in East London and she could not speak on the phone.
