Murder accused case in Thornycroft killing postponed

The three men accused of murdering Thornycroft Lodge owner Elza Remant-Eyland in February, today made a brief appearance at the East London Magistrate’s Court where their case was postponed to next month.

The three accused, Bhekathina Msomi, 36, Jannie Fagans, 36, and Phumlani Mabaso, 34, were arrested late in February, one in KwaZulu-Natal, and two in the province.

They were charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances and theft.

This after they were found in possession of some of the items, including Remant-Eyland’s white Toyota bakkie and cellphones, stolen during a robbery gone wrong at the Summerpride lodge on February 16.

They will appear again in court on May 22.
