Afriforum-funded prosecutor Gerrie Nel said he is supporting “proper” redistribution of land but was against changing of the constitution for the expropriation of land without compensation.
Nel was giving an anti-corruption talk at the Guild Theatre in East London on Monday organised by the Rotary Club of Arcadia.
“I think redistribution of land is fair when it is proper and has been investigated by everyone involved. It is fair but I am against changing of the constitution and expropriation of land without compensation.”
Nel, who has applied for a certificate to privately prosecute Julius Malema, also dismissed claims he was going after the EFF commander-in-chief to punish him for his land policy.
He added that Afriforum had earlier laid fraud charges against Malema’s On Point engineering company and now “simply want to know what is happening in the case”.
