IT’S that time of the week again, where we give you all there is to know about the hot and happening things around East London and surrounds.

 DJ Fresh returns

5FM breakfast show presenter, DJ Fresh, will be mixing up a storm at Numbers Dance Club in Beacon Bay tomorrow. Pre-sold tickets cost R60 at Music Mix and R70 at the door, all night. VIP experience tickets cost R200. Doors open at 9pm.

 Mi Casa in East London

AWARD-winning band Mi Casa will be performing at The Venue@Hemingways tomorrow to celebrate their lead singer J Something’s birthday. The show starts at 8pm with a special DJ playing the discs. Tickets cost R120 and are available at Computicket. The band takes their fun to the afterparty at Incognito Lounge. The afterparty features Port Elizabeth DJ Eazy E and DJ Monty. Tickets for this cost R60 before 9pm and R80 after.

éVoid blasts back

HIT ‘80s band éVoid returns from London to play at Old Selbornians club tomorrow night. If you loved Shadows and Taximan, start jiving for joy. This long-awaited tour features brothers Lucien and Erik Windrich who are joined by Johan Buys on bass and Mike Horne on drums. Tickets are sold out. Concert-goers should use the parking area opposite Stirling High School fields. Gates open at 6pm, and the first band starts playing at about 8.30pm.

Dance extravaganza

CHARENE Harris’s Just Dance Studio dancers put on an extravaganza of dance and song to take audiences on a journey with the Cat in the Hat through the Jungle of Nool, where Horton is guarding his Whos and Sally and Jo Jo are off to “great places” and Thing 1 and Thing 2 create chaos wherever they go. Show starts tonight and runs until Saturday, August 30. There is also a matinee on Saturday at 2pm. Tickets are from R85.

Celebrate Women’s Month

END Women’s Month on a high note with the annual Proverbs 31 Celebrations which features both local and international gospel singers. Artists include: Dumi Mkokstad, Ntokozo Mbambo, Thinah Zungu, Judah and Stand among many. The event is at the Orient Theatre on Sunday. Entry is R100 for adults and R50 for children.

Retsi brings jazz tunes

LEGENDARY Eastern Cape jazz artists Retsi Pule and his band perform at the OR Tambo Hall in Zwelitsha tomorrow (Friday) at 7pm. Tickets for the event cost R50.

Beer festival

AN ANNUAL beer festival takes place on Friday and Saturday at the Berlin Hotel Park. Artists who will perform include: Winnie Khumalo, Alaska, Bricks, DJ Ligwa and many more. Entry is R100 and VIP is R300. For bookings, contact 0727134831.

Zola comes home

AFRO soul singer Zola Soul performs at Legends Showcase tomorrow night (Friday). Tickets for the show cost R120 and are sold at the venue.

Farm fun

lAlliance Française d’East London hosts Reunion-based musician Maron on September 4. Maron has a musical style known as the malamba, which combines the French Reunion Island’s maloya with the Brazilian samba.

lComedian Trevor Noah brings his Nationwild tour to East London on September 12 at The Venue@Hemingways. Tickets from Computicket.
