Band promises to hit all the right notes.

AWARD-winning rock band Watershed is ready to wow East London with their acoustic sounds when they visit the metro as part of their national tour.

Many will remember the platinum selling group for songs such as Indigo Girl, Letters , In the Meantime, and Yesterday Again which became instant hits after their release.

After spending a lot of time touring the world, the group decided to embark on a national tour ahead of the release of their fifth album.

Their previous albums include: In the Meantime, Wrapped in stone, Mosaic, Staring at the Ceiling and the 2010 compilation A Million Faces (Best of Watershed).

Frontman Craig Hinds told the Daily Dispatch this week that the visit would be their first concert in East London.

“We performed at a corporate gig a couple of years ago and now we are looking forward to our show,” he said.

“We started our tour a couple of weeks back. We’ve been to Cape Town, Jeffrey’s Bay and will be heading to the Wilderness, Port Elizabeth and finally will be in East London on the weekend,” he said.

Although the group has not released any new material over the past couple of years, Hinds said they had been touring the country and abroad. He also released his debut solo album last year.

“We’ve been touring Europe and other places but this year we decided it was time to go back to the studio and record,” he said.

Hinds said songs such as Indigo Girl had won them an international crowd over the years.

He said their fifth studio album was expected to be released in October.

“After this tour, we will go back to the studio and finish recording the album. When it is done we will tour again,” he said.

Hinds said their East London supporters should expect a energetic, acoustic performance of the band.

“We are touring with a great vibe and I think there’s a lot of energy in the songs and performance,” he said.

Catch the band at 3pm on Sunday at The Venue@Hemingways. Tickets cost R120 at Computicket. —
