Music maestros to set Guild alight

On Sunday East London’s Guild Theatre gives over to the sounds of Cape Town band Faze4.

King William’s Town-born Frank Cuddumbey leads on keyboards, ably supported by Ashwin Daniels on drums, Abigail Bagley on lead vocals and Bentley Brown on bass.

The group has performed extensively on the Cape Town club circuit as well as in Swaziland, Malaysia and Singapore.

They played at Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s 80th birthday party, and more recently at Trevor Manual’s 60th birthday party at the elegant Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town.

Faze4 specialises in traditional jazz and Cape jazz, but they also play RnB, kwaito, pop, reggae, mbathanga and dance music.

From their current gig at Jackson Hall, at the Grandwest Casino, in Cape Town, the band promises to rock the house on this, their debut tour of the Eastern Cape.

The band will be supported by six talented local artists, including “Tubby” MacDonald, a former lead vocalist of 70s boy band The Prumes.

Other local openers include Stirling High School pupil Casey van Heerden, fresh from winning a Lee Gold medal at last week’s Eisteddfod in East London, Talana Hillier and Roberto Mentoor – who will perform Tonight I Celebrate My Love for You.

Dawid “Bowman” Swarts is set to perform Lionel Richie’s Truly and Stuck on You.

Sunday’s audience will also get to see East London’s own Whitney Houston, Irene Van Wyk, who does justice to any Whitney song.

A truly great show awaits you this Sunday at the Guild.

Tickets are available from Computicket at R120 a person.

The show starts at 4pm.
