New TV lifestyle show to debut

Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) has introduced a new lifestyle show that gives viewers an up-close look into the lives of extraordinary personalities in the country.

TBN Meets is hosted by award-winning singer Loyiso Bala.

The lifestyle show made its television debut on Friday on channel 343, which was once the Rhema TV channel but is now used by TBN.

Bala’s first guest was American singer-songwriter, pastor and producer of Christian music Don Moen.

The two spoke about Moen’s journey as a worship leader and what it means to worship.

He said worship was more than just music; it was a lifestyle.

Moen, who is known as one of the best worship leaders in the world, has a musical journey dating back to the 1970s. He released his first album in the 1980s.

Bala and Moen recently collaborated on hymn classic How Great Thou Art. The track, aired for the first time on the show on Friday, features on Bala’s third gospel album, Kingdom Come, due for release next month.

“Don defines worship music, especially what contemporary worship should mean to us as worship leaders,” said Bala.

Moen had been an inspiration to him in worship music for years, he added.

“I was amazed that he was willing to work with me on How Great Thou Art. It was such a great experience for me and we are planning on doing more work together,” he said.

Bala, who made a name for himself as an R&B singer, released his first gospel album, Love Complete, in 2012 and in 2014 his second album, Power Love Sound.

He has led worship in big churches including the Rhema Church and River Ministries.

Bala said viewers could look forward to an up-close look into the lives of many more extraordinary personalities on TBN Meets.

Some of the people Bala plans to chat to on the show include South African celebrity chef Siba Mntongana, American television personality Cynthia Garrett and award-winning gospel couple artists Nqubeko Mbatha and Ntokozo Mbambo.

He was excited at the wonderful opportunity and hoped the programme would touch viewers, he added.

TBN relaunched in early March, two years after TBN International fell out with East London-based television broadcaster and magnate Andre Roebert over money issues. Roebert then launched his own channel, Faith Broadcasting Network. The Los Angeles-based network has partnered with Johannesburg’s Rhema TV to bring Africa local and international faith and family programmes.
