DA leader Mmusi Maimane will this weekend visit the Eastern Cape as part of the party’s campaign towards 2019.
He will be accompanied by some of the party’s provincial leaders, including newly elected Eastern Cape leader Nqaba Bhanga.
Spokesman Graham Charters said Maimane would visit East London, King William’s Town and Ntabankulu. “The leader will be engaging and interacting with communities across the province as part of a general campaign, which is a precursor to the 2019 campaign,” said Charters.
Maimane made it clear during the party’s provincial elective congress that they wanted to acquire Buffalo City Metro as their next metro in the province.
The DA leader will be in Ntabankulu tomorrow and is scheduled to meet the local leaders in the area, including AmaMpondo chief Phondolwendlovu Faku.
DA constituency leader Sanele Magaqa said it was important for the DA going forward to recognise the cultural base of the Eastern Cape.
The leader of the official opposition is then scheduled to move on to King William’s Town and East London where he will do door-to-door campaigning.
Provincial spokesman Mlindi Nhanha described Maimane’s visit as the start of the implementation of the leader’s commitment to concentrate on rural areas. — email@example.com
