Two suspects involved in the Mhlontlo speaker shooting arrested

Two men accused of shooting at the car of ANC OR Tambo regional chairman and Mhlontlo Municipality council speaker Xolile Nkompela have been arrested.

 The men were arrested separately on Friday and yesterday.
 
The man arrested on Friday appeared in the Tsolo Magistrate’s court while the other is expected to appear today.
 
They face charges of murder and two counts of attempted murder, and other additional charges.
 
Nkompela's driver and bodyguard Zolile Nyontso, was shot dead in the incident near Bakhangele village outside Tsolo in December 2015.
 
Nkompela escaped unhurt.
 
Mthatha police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela said: “The police have been working around the clock to ensure a breakthrough in the case and we are happy that there have been arrests.”
