VIDEO: WSU student to produce TV show

WALTER Sisulu University Information Technology student Hlumelo Nyaluza has been asked to produce a reality show about himself for Eastern Cape-based television station Bay TV titled HN: Crazy Internet mogul in the making.

The 22-year-old said the show was the result of his still running “Long Tie to success” campaign.

Last year the Daily Dispatch reported on the launch of the campaign which is to get the unusually long tie (designed by Nyaluza) signed by as many celebrities as possible.

Once filled the tie will be auctioned with the proceeds going towards developing young entrepreneurs who showcase on the HN cars and clothes website.

The website also founded by Nyaluza is a platform for up and coming entrepreneurs to promote their merchandise.

Speaking to the Daily Dispatch yesterday the King William’s Town-born Nyaluza said after he was featured on Bay TV about the campaign, they challenged him to create a concept for a show that would encapsulate his budding business.

“After I sent the proposal for the show, they asked me to shoot the first episodes that they will air as a pilot and we have shot the episodes working with the local Mobi Dixon Productions,” said Nyaluza, adding that the pilot was in the post-production stages.

He said he wanted the show to inspire other young people, and to show the youth that there are resources in the province for those with dreams and drive.

“The show will cover all aspects of my life, from family, business, social and student life and will be as transparent as possible.”

Head of youth education and development programmes at Bay TV Zingiswa Mndayi confirmed the project and said they are always on the lookout for shows that promot the good being done by the youth.

“Once the pilot is approved, we will then make a slot for a five-episode show which should be aired by the end of the year, if all goes well,” said Mndayi.
