ANC abandons ideology to defend corrupt leader

The ANC was formed out of the desire to liberate the majority of South Africans from all forms of oppression.

That desire was so strong that a lot of people were prepared to sacrifice all they had for the cause of the ANC. Men and women, old and young, sacrificed quality family time, their jobs and above all their lives to liberate all black South Africans from all forms of oppression.

The ANC I used to know would not have hesitated to implement Rule 25 of its constitution against anyone who has done what Zuma has done.

What has happened to that ANC?

So many cadres of the ANC have sacrificed their own blood and their lives for the noble ideals on which the ANC was founded.

Why is it so difficult for Zuma to sacrifice the position of president?

Is it because of the fame and salary that goes with being the president?

Is it because within the ANC as a whole there is no cadre, no freedom fighter, who can take over his position and start to quickly rectify the costly mistakes he has made so that the people of South Africa can begin to forgive and forget these mistakes and regain their confidence in the ANC?

Is it because the current leadership has a strange belief that the ANC will always get the majority of votes in an election?

But so many people say they will not vote in the upcoming elections because they have lost confidence in the ANC. Yet the current leadership does not seem bothered by that.

After what so many South Africans have said following last month’s Constitutional Court ruling against the president and parliament, the ANC I used to know would say: The people have spoken and we have listened.

Whatever happened to that ANC?
