Butterworth crowd sets demands

A group of about 200 people yesterday camped outside the municipal offices in Butterworth demanding the removal of municipal manager Sindile Tantsi.

The group had earlier in the day marched to the Butterworth police station, where officials from the department of cooperative governance and traditional affairs met mayor Thobeka Bikitsha, speaker Zibuthe Mnqwazi and the council’s chief whip Zakhele Mkiva.

ANC sub-region chairman Ndoda Mesani vowed they would not leave the gates of the municipality until Tantsi had resigned.
