Former Nkonkobe municipality mayor Anele Ntsangani has been voted in as the new council speaker of Raymond Mhlaba.
This follows the untimely death of Thozama Njobe, the former speaker. Amathole ANC regional secretary Teris Ntuthu confirmed this morning that the ANC has briefed its caucus to support Ntsangani.
The Council was still in session when Ntuthu said: “Yes he (Ntsangani) is the newly deployed speaker of Raymond Mhlaba (municipality).
Ntsangani’s deployment follows the murder of Njobe who was shot in July.
Two suspects have since been arrested. Mziyanda Ketani, 29, and Sindiso Wece, 30, will appear in the Fort Beaufort Magistrate’s Court on October 30. They remain in police custody.
