Queen inspires EL moms to dream

WHILE many mothers celebrated Mother’s Day over a week ago, East London mothers were pampered again this weekend and inspired by Mzantsi’s most loved television actress, Sophie Ndaba, better known as Queen in SABC’s soap Generations.

Close to 100 local mothers were celebrated and honoured on Saturday when they attended a Mother’s Day lunch at the Hemingways Hotel.

The event was organised by BSN Events and Decor.

Organiser and company owner Bongasiyanda Ndakisa said the event was a way of appreciating hardworking mothers and creating a space where women could share each other’s wisdom and the joys of motherhood.

The lovely Ndaba was a true darling on Saturday when she inspired young and old mothers to have a vision in life and to chase their dreams.

Treats for the day included massages, lunch and gift packs.

Speaking at the event Ndaba said women needed to be confident in themselves and know that God had a vision for each one of them.

“As mothers we need to take time to understand our children.

“Our presence and attention in their lives is very important to avoid cases where our children are arrested and any other reckless behaviour, ” said the mother of three while speaking to the Dispatch yesterday .

Tabani Ceza, who was part of the celebration, described the event as a success, saying a platform of interaction was created.

“ Mothers came out in numbers.

“It was about inspiring each other and reminding ourselves about our purpose as mothers,” said Ceza, herself a mother to a four-year-old daughter.

A strong message was also sent out to single mothers to stop underestimating their strength.

“I know what it feels like being a single mother. I have experienced it but women must not underestimate their strength because God created us in a way that we can handle any trouble that may come our way.

“We need to be role models to our children. If you fall then your children will also fall ,” Ndaba said.

Ndakisa said she would continue organising events to inspire women around the province.

“Women can look out for more empowering events from us.

“Our next big event will be looking at women in business and how they can grow as businesswomen,” Ndakisa said. —
