THE Bhisho government has set aside more than R30-million this financial year to resuscitate sports development in disadvantaged schools across the Eastern Cape.
In her 2014-15 policy speech delivered at the Bhisho legislature last week, sports MEC Pemmy Majodina revealed that her department had set aside R31.3-million in order to develop “a vibrant” sports programme in townships and rural schools.
Majodina said the move comes after realisation that outstanding athletes are groomed at an early age and while still at school.
