For the first time in its history the University Sport South Africa (USSA) Rugby Week will be using two different provincial grounds to host matches during the feast of rugby action set to hit East London next week.

Teams will be playing fixtures at both the Buffalo City Stadium, home of the Border Bulldogs, and Buffalo Park Stadium, home of the Warriors and Border Cricket team.

“We have been very impressed with the state of the fields that will be used during the tournament and playing at some of these iconic grounds will be fantastic for the players,” said tournament director Rich-ard Janse van Rensburg.

This year’s USSA rugby week is hosted by Walter Sisulu University and the annual week brings university teams from across the country to go for glory in different divisions.

“We are very happy with how preparations have been going so far and are satisfied that everything will be ready,” said Janse van Rensburg.

With 28 teams competing across three major divisions over the week, it would seem an overwhelming task to organise, but Janse van Rensurg admits he has been impressed with the organisation of the hosting university.

“They have really gone out of their way and put in a lot of effort and hard work here which has made things very easy for us,” he said.

Teams arrive in East London on Sunday morning and the action is all set to get under way from Monday.
