Solo debut in city for upcoming rapper

Sexy MTV presenter and now budding rapper, Nomuzi “Moozlie” Mabena, will take to the stage in East London for a Friday the 13th event dubbed BadAss Friday.

Speaking to the Daily Dispatch ahead of the event, Mabena said she was excited as this would be her first solo performance in the city.

“Every other time I have been to East London it has either been as a back up to someone or to host a show. Now I am the main headliner and that is really exciting, knowing that people will be buying tickets to see me and only me perform; its growth,” she said.

Dubbed as the “New Age Brenda Fassie” because of her sass and appeal to the youth and lovers of art, the Benoni-born entertainer first caught the attention of the country after winning the MTV Base VJ Search in 2012.

Since then she has been MC for various parties and events around Africa.

She is also known for her iconic fashion sense that is influential in the African urban youth culture.

Last year Mabena launched her rap career with Cashtime Life, which she has since left and is now an independent artist.

Mabena said she had never set out to become a musician but that it was possibly her destiny.

“God happens while you are busy living your life and I think that is what happened.

“I have always wanted to be a presenter and now in hindsight, I realise that everything that happened after getting on MTV has led me to music,” said Mabena.

She has not released any of her own music but has been featured on a number of songs, with the latest, Mbongo Zaka, being on high rotation across the country.

Tickets to the show which will take place at OHbrigado night club cost R100 before 11pm and are available at the venue.
