In-form Queen’s must be wary of Cambridge machine

QUEENSTOWN is preparing for the Cambridge invasion today as Queen’s College welcome Cambridge High School for their annual college versus co-ed battle.

Queen’s are currently in great form having won their last five matches on the trot, including three since returning from the winter break, and have built up a good head of steam moving into the business end of the school rugby season.

Cambridge have continued with their see-sawing form with two wins and a loss since the winter break.

Queen’s enjoyed a good 31-24 win over Hudson Park High School away in their last outing and will be bristling with confidence when they face Cambridge today at the Rec.

Heading into their classic clash final game of the season against Dale College next weekend, they will want to win so as to head into that game with high confidence and show what they made of.

“Cambridge has a good side this year, have done really well and they have surprised a few teams of late, so we know it’s going to be a tough encounter,” said Queen’s first XV coach Murray Basset.

“Cambridge are capable of beating anybody on their day. However we are also confident in our ability and will back ourselves to play at our best and get the win.”

Cambridge suffered a disappointing 33-20 home loss against Stirling this past weekend and will be looking to pick themselves up for the Queen’s clash.

Cambridge will also face a traditional rival in a classic clash next weekend as they prepare to host Hudson Park.

They will thus also be desperate to land a victory that would send them into the Hudson clash in top form and bursting with confidence.

Queen’s and Cambridge will be banking on the form of their various Craven Week and Academy Week players to bring their good form so far this season into the match.

The teams are:

Queen’s first XV: Siyavuya Mlwayo; Tiaan Bartman (capt), Sean Nkomo, Sifundile Tyebileyo, James Roberts; Lona Ntsila, Uhuru Vanda; Alan Rautenbach, Kewan Gibb, Dale de Wett, Sikhokele Ngozi, Leroy Kuyler, Lilitha Jonas, Dancan Mureguzi, Siphuxolo Zaula

Cambridge first XV: Thembelihle Yase; Sonwabile Mantantana, Siphosethu Dyobiso, JP Bekker, Kweku Borsah; Unathi Ntwasa, Musa Mahlasela; Jayson Reinecke (capt), Lonwabo Madolwana, Yavela Sigenu, Xolisa Mato, Sethu Tom, Sapho Makaluza, Sinawo Ntsaluba, Ludwe Badiyana
